The survey defined digital government as the process by which government agencies harness various digital technologies – including cloud, virtualization, advanced data analytics, and mobile – to deliver superior services to citizens, stakeholders and other government employees.
The survey revealed that 69 percent of government agencies have initiated or are interested in adopting digital government initiatives, while the remaining 31 percent reported skepticism of digital government’s benefits. Those further along the path to digital government are more likely to have more mature capabilities in areas such as security, cloud, mobility and IT service management than those agencies from which respondents expressed skepticism about digital government. Although, nearly all agencies agree on the potential benefits of moving toward digital government, and most agree that digital government speeds service delivery, improves quality, lowers costs and help break down agency silos.
